I have a bourbon red hen, she the only surviver out if 4 when she was younger. We have been trying to find another hen and a tom but we could only find some royal palms. Will the Royal Palm tom breed with my bourbon red hen? Since they look different. Also has any one owned one? And how do/did you like them? They won't be for meat just for fun and to hatch eggs and sell.

I own royals. Bourbons. And a few others.

Your tom will have no issues mating her.

Palms to me are eye candy. They tend to be a little more flighty than my reds. But are nice.

I like mine

My wild breed toms mated just fine with my royal palm hens. I even have some fertile eggs in the incubator. Like with most fowl, turkeys don't care about appearance (ducks, chickens, guineas, etc. will all breed with each other (cross species)).

I can't say much on the personality of the royal palms, as the hens I bought were not hand raised (nor the toms), so they are extremely flighty. They are beautiful, ornamental birds, though.
