Runaway ducks?

If they are a fan of a special food like mealworms or scratch, put it into something that you can shake and start calling them, and having a large net helps. Being flightless means they arent going to survive long.

I have 2 ducks a 2 year old Ruane and a 1 year old Pekin which free range. The ruane duck started to act strangely 4 nights ago, running away when it was time to go to bed and then when I let him out the other morning he ran down to the end of our yard, shouting for our other duck to go with him, heading towards the nearby lake where several wild mallards are. He hasn't come back and there is no sign of him, given the time of day he disappeared I dont think its a predator (no evidence). Could his disappearance be due to mating season, will he come back or should I assume he is gone forever. My other duck is now very lonely
