Sense of smell!New evidence on an old subject...

Yesterday I got 4 eggs out of a metal barrel full of straw the ladies have adopted. They have been laying in it for a month. Then today they were all around fussing in the vicinity. i tok a look - NO eggs, but strong reek of cat pee. I guess I need to put in fresh straw

Sure they can smell, noticed the chicks differentiate the poops by smell rather than a beak poke..guess they learn that quick! Cats tend to use the dust bath for a litter box as well..how I knew we had a feral cat around when he left his spore there....
