I hope I'm right on the sex of these Ameraucana's. They came from a gorgeous blue egg.

1. I think this is a female, but not 100% sure. It's a blue wheaten and has a white tail like the other females and is the same size as the other females. Her blue feathers are not as dark as the male. I hope I'm right.

5. Wheaten Male- right now he's my male I'm keeping. His personality is very friendly so far.

I'm keeping the two for sure males until 5-6 months of age and will keep the people friendly of the two since I have younger children in the home. I need a sky watcher for hawks and eagles. These guys will be stunning as adults too!

Do you think I'm right? The males are nearly 2x's bigger then the females. All 6 are already very social and have no issues being picked up and handled. Actually my two splash Ameraucana's are the most friendly of my entire flock. They walk up to the neighbors to be pet.

I am not as keen on sexing Ameracaunas as I am with Easter Eggers, but I think you are right. It will be of course, a lot easier to tell in a couple weeks. But I definitely agree on the ones you say are cockerels. Beautiful little birds by the way.

Hm, I agree with your guesses but the top one looks male to me. Feathering is just taking a bit longer, but I think I see dark splotches coming in across the body.

And btw, that last one doesn't look standard with those yellow legs! The others all look good.

Thanks. Luckily the wheatens/blue wheatens can be sexed by feather color. I'm just not sure on chick 1.

All the wheatens/blue wheatens have yellow legs when hatched. His are taking longer to change color. Plus they are brother/sisters. :)

Here's their baby photo

I hope his legs change, he looks like he's going to be a nice big rooster!

I'm really happy with this hatch! They already come up to me and are not frightened. I sit with them outside everyday. I'm hoping to put them in the coop this weekend. I have 2 more 4 month old chicks that I already integrated them with.

Here's a photo of the egg color. Unfortunately it's the only photo I took of the eggs, this was the first chick to hatch.
