Will be continuing the Giant Silkie project, but I have a few other things that I need to take care of first.

#1. Hatch chicks for the first friend.

#2. Hatch chicks for a second friend.

#3. Create F1 Crosses for my Rainbow Runners project.

#4. Create another F1 Silkie cross for the Giant Silkie project.

#5. Hatch eggs from Dino, & his sister in hopes of getting another Goober.
Sounds like you have a lot of projects on your plate!😊

Hello my fellow Silkie friends! Missed being here.❤️
Well I’ve caught up on the thread and I’m going to post some update photos!😊
Niko laid her first egg at 5 1/2 months old! Early for my birds but her mom, who was from a different line, also started laying about this age. Her slightly older sister Lilikoi has not even started squatting yet.
Had the birds out yesterday as it was my first day off in a while. And the first day without rain for a while as well!😃
Still working on integrating the above two ladies into the flock. They keep to themselves but are getting along better with the older hens.

I let the 3 eight week olds hang out with the flock at the same time but they also keep to themselves. As we all know integration takes time! Not quite sure where I’m going to put Hotaru now that she is a he!😊

You are so sweet! ❤️ I am fine!
Answered your p.m. I’ve been off the forum for awhile, I got a new job with 14 hour days. I’m going to try to catch up now on this thread! I’m going to get some coffee, it might take a while.🤣
Im about to join you.. simplifying the chicken routine beforehand!

Yes I knew I was going back to work and for the past month or so I’ve been simplifying processes, selling extra birds and trying to make it as easy as possible for my teenage daughter to step in. I leave for work at 5 AM, so she has to do the morning chores before school. I’ve got it down to where it only takes her about 15-20 minutes. That’s a long time for a teenager in the morning though!🤣

How awesome that she is such a help!! I bet as time goes on, she will figure out how to make it faster.

I need to figure out waterers that i can refill with the hose, versus lifting/carrying a water container. And.. i need to get the hardware cloth skirt around the run finished, then i won't have to open/lock the coop twice a day. It would also be helpful if Elsa would cooperate, but i think that's pushing it 🤣
