Frizzled is it's own fun gene. Dominant gene. You can have satin frizzles and silkied frizzles. Don't want to breed frizzle to frizzle. Can get frazzles. Their feathers break off at the skin. I'm not sure what other issues it causes. I haven't kept them.
I don’t breed my silkies - though I have given eggs to my friend to hatch crossed with my Polish Roo. I also hatched one from Marty but it turned out to be a cockerel 😟 he was a beauty.

Here are some updates on the silkies
All my silkies a a work in process, I’m not the proudest of them but here they are.

My blues
Chicks are from sultan and possible frizzle x white Silkie. They are all recessive white

And I’ve also got a few Silkie mixes

These are my babies. 4 are 3 weeks old and the rest are 2 weeks old.

The 3 smallest are supposed to be chocolate and the rest are paints.

Someone has runny poop. I’ve added electrolytes and probiotics to their water. Anything else I should do?

@Hinotori Someone wrote that they carry disease so I had to ask. Thank you for clearing that up

Those babies are so cute!
I thought about getting some showgirls but I read on this thread that they could have issues. is that true? Do they have more problems than silkies(or any other chicken)?
agree with Hinotori, never herd of them having issues. I also have had no problems with crested birds. They are able to eat and drink just fine, my seem to even be more dominate than the non crested birds.
