at least 2 of my girls are really mean. my boys are good.

The only somewhat mean ones I have are the head hens in each pen. They will fight each other if I let the pens out into the courtyard together. The roosters usually ignore each other but some are best buddies. The hens pull hair and fight like middle school girls. They ignore the lower ranking ones, though

Beautiful babies!!❤️ It could be buff, but it’s pretty dark. Possibly red! The buff silkies I’ve produced are usually a yellowish orange as chicks. Where did you pick them up? Hatchery chicks are usually the more basic colors where as breeders are where you get more specialty or “designer” colors.
Thanks!! That’s good to know! I got them from tractor supply.

I Actually got a silky flat feather that lays blue eggs!!! Finally after breading back to silky I’m stoked I just wanted to share this is strawberry and her new egg!

What is the thoughts on someone keeping several colos of silkies together and then selling the eggs as show quality?

They won't be show quality. Have to have separate pens for each color. Only certain named colors can be shown.

Aside from that, you can't guarantee any chick will be show quality. Only individual birds that meet the SoP can be concidered show quality. Not all breeder birds are even show quality. A bird with a fault may be used because it had wanted genetics somewhere.
