Hi guys so for the last week in Aus we have been getting incredibly hot days and i found that one of my turkeys has a very interesting way of spreading out to cool down. She lays in her sandpit splooting (legs directly out the back) and with her wing fully extended and head and neck fully strentch out on the ground.

My heart sunk when i first peeked through the window and saw lol but she just got up and walked over when i ran out to her. Shes now does this constantly.

Does anyone elses birds lay in a funny way too?

Ps. ive been trying to get a picture. I will deffinatly update when i get one.

I have two that are hatch mates that only will dust bath head to tail against each other. Lol

As I was not familiar with the term "splooting," I was afraid this was going to be a sad post. Thankfully, not.

It reminds me of when I first got chickens and the very first time one of my girls was flat out on the ground -- just getting some sun and enjoying the dirt. But I freaked out. Truth be told, I still get a bit nervous when I see it.

Hope you get a photo soon. I'd love to see her!
