This will be my 2nd spring with my girls. Last spring I made the mistake of letting them free range the whole yard, I really didn't realize how destructive they can be in a garden. As a result I was not able to grow anything which defeats my purpose of being more self sufficient.

I spent this weekend moving the coop/run to the other side of the yard where I can put up a small fence, away from my garden. I detached the run from the coop, paid some college kids a few bucks to move coop and run and then proceeded to clean coop/run and set everything up again. Here is the result:

This side of the yard gets lot of shade from 2 large oak trees next door, I can't grow anything here. The shade will help in the summer as well. Lesson learned!
