This is a question for all Cochin Owners or Cochin Enthusiast...I purchased a Splash and Blue Standard Cochin Day Old Females from My Pet Chicken. I was hoping someone could verify the sex for these two. The pictures posted below are at 6 weeks and 9 weeks of age. The Blue Cochin Feather pattern at 3 days old made me think it was a boy and the feather pattern on the Splash Cochin was a female. Now I Just don’t know. The comb and wattles are making me second guess. Cochins are tough to tell at this age. Thanks for input.

They are both pullets. Cochin cockerels develop very quickly. You would be seeing a lot more comb and wattle development if they were boys.
Thanks for the response! Our Splash Cochin has a lot more red showing in the comb and wattles. You can really see it in the 2nd to last Photo.

Yes, but a cockerel would have a much bigger comb and wattles. Here is my cochin bantam cockerel at 7 weeks old.

Oh wow, that is a big difference. Especially at 7 weeks compared to our 9 weeks. Our Splash Cochin was starting to make us nervous since she has a fairly decent amount of red compared to our Blue. Does it matter that they are standard and not bantam?
