Sumatra question: how much are they worth?

We're moving and have to sell the flock. My teen daughter has about 7 Sumatras. They're almost a year old. One black roo, the rest are hens, black, blue and blue splash. They're very pretty birds. My daughter ordered them online. One is a bantam. She's been selling herself short on the others, selling yr olds for just $10/bird. Does anyone know what would be fair? I just don't want people robbing my hard working daughter blind

I've seen them go for up to $50 per bird in the central Florida area. These are the current ads on CL for them. The first seem low to me, but that might just be because they have to many cockerels. One is here in Orlando, and the other about 1.5 hours away. Best of luck to your little girl. No good reason she should be sold short.

It depends a lot on the quality with Sumatras. Hatchery birds $10 would be fair. I've been breeding Black Sumatras for a long time. I charge as follows for 10 month or older birds. First round culls are $5. Second round culls are $10. Breeder quality closer to $25. Show quality $40+.
