Temporary Enclosure Size

Thank you for the information everyone! I ended up needing an extra week to get their permanent enclosure up, but explained the situation with the breeder, who was nice enough to hold the birds for me an extra week. So they will be going straight into their permanent home when I get them!

would around 10 quails be alright in that dog cage for a week if need be (I would not be getting them until Friday)?

That dog cage is 10 square feet. I feel that it would have been plenty large enough to house 10 quail for as long as was necessary. Many of the regulars on this site like to give their quail lots of space, but there are other very successful breeders who keep quail at 3 per square foot. I think it largely depends on whether you think of your birds as livestock or as pets.
