Do bantam orps lay about the same age as the regular sized ones or do they take longer?
Some of my friends and family members are anxiously awaiting fertile eggs from these sweet little girls lol. My chocolate bantam orps are 4 months old now so I know I have a few more months to go at least.
my bantam chocolate orp is 7 months & showing no signs of laying, my lf buffs have been laying for over 2 months & are only about 8 days older. My Chocolate-Fudge still peeps & her comb & waddles have just started developing. I have read too that the fertility rate is iffy with the Chocolates (might have read that on the Greenfire site or the Marc Sacre site). Would be interested in other opinions/experiences. PCL
Our Bantam Chocolates are 100% fertility here I did have one guy who got eggs from me say he had 0% fertility buy who knows. Ours started laying at 4 1/2 months we were blown away.
We only have a pair so not much to go on. The pullet started laying a 5 months but it took another 2 months before we saw any fertile eggs. Once we got to 13 hours of daylight the bulls eyes started showing up.
