good luck getting chicks from Sandhill. several ordered together and finally after a long wait and not much communication got their money back. have not heard of too many actually getting the birds they ordered.

I Ordered bantams from Sandhill two years ago. Had good luck on what I ordered and am planning to order from them again. Sometimes on the rare breeds he has trouble getting enough eggs to hatch so give him three or four months to get what you need.

Has anyone tried sand in their runs? If so, how'd that work out?? I'm thinking about getting some of this quikrete sand for mine. http://www.homedepot.com/p/t/100318450 Let me know if you guys have tried it please.

I've used it and like it. I put large drainage gravel under it and sand on top. It's low-smell and low-maintenance.

Though the comment about mites has me wondering if my hens' reduced laying is tied to a lice/mite problem.
