The gold/silver works same pretty much as the barring. F1 pullets are silver so they pass silver to all F2 sons.
F1 father has one gold gene and one silver gene so he will pass either.
F2 females will be about half gold and about half silver.
F2 males will be about half silver and about half silver/gold (golden).

I’ve been working the Punnet squares for the F2s and my brain is spinning.

I think I’ve gotten all of the potential outcomes/genotypes. I’m at 32(?) potential outcomes?

This is why I like to work with one single gene. A Splash rooster over black hens equals all blue chicks! Easy peasy.

I wasn't thinking that many so lets break it down. When I thought about sitting up this pen I was looking at 8 varieties eventually after a third cross.

So you aren’t including the splits then?

Of course with the F2s I wouldn't have DF barred males or gold duckwing males of any variety. Those would all take the extra cross.

I was just counting final varieties that I would want and that would breed true.
Splits would be throw aways. Or I label them as throw aways.

Throw aways would include golden males, SF barred males and all split for mottled.
So that would be how many all together?

I'm thinking 8 varieties (16 if you count males and females seperate) that I want and 15 throw aways when I get to F3s

So that adds up to 31. IDK seems like an odd number maybe I'm missing one.
Anyways from those two varieties I can make 8 varieties in 3 generations that would breed true.
That's not bad.
