Hello all, little update, last Sunday we lost two khaki Campbell ducklings, one was going to be 2 weeks, the other was going to be 3 weeks this last Monday. They was sent off for an autopsy, can’t remember the word they actually use. Had two of our 3 KC checked by the vet, she said they looked good and healthy, other than one had a heart murmur she seemed a bit surprised about. She doesn’t suspect any virus or bacteria infection, said it was just probably nothing to worry about, probably just a nature thing. Said we should about be out of that part now, and hopefully no more losses. After this next Monday they will all be 3 and 4 weeks old and she said it is just a possibility up til around the 3-4 week old then if they make it past that everything should go fine. They are all loving their swim times, and already getting quite the characters. You can tell some are more friendly and don’t mind being held, even seem to enjoy, others just tolerate, and others that outright protest being picked up lol. Had to split them into groups for swim time as they have already grown so big, they just didn’t have enough room in the tub together, we thought. I’ll try to grab some photos later on to post. They are now trying to get their feathers, and you can hear tons of practice quacking, although not quacks yet at all, but know that sound now and they are definitely giving it a go ha. All our other babies are doing well, growing so fast. The second youngest group is nearly fully feathered in adult plumage. Our little Rouen male is really getting beautiful. His head as of yesterday was almost fully green, with the grayish underbody so he is really starting to be one beautiful duck. Well think this is already long enough for now, hope everyone has a great Friday!
