Gave the run a good raking out- added all of the poo and massive amount of feathers from the epidemic-style molt going on in my flock to the compost. Then piled it high with leaves and pine needles. Add and handful of scratch, and you have one heck of a party! Lop an old pumpkin in half and add it to the mix for a little extra something. The leaf/needle litter keeps my gals busy during the boring winter months. AND it's free

This was the run situation a few weeks ago. It all melted in about a week or less. I had wanted to get the clean-out done and the leaves in before it stayed like this for months!
