UK Member Please Say HI

good luck lin!
have you got some DE as a preventative for the mites?
Hi Perris, yes think I’ve brought every product that there is for red mites 🤪. Was an awful experience and even had them on me too. My poor birds looked awful ....I tried absolutely everything. Last resort I gave them away but they did end up having a good life. This time I think I’m prepared👍.

Great! I'm glad the bad experience didn't put you off permanently; we all learn more from our failures than from our successes, I think :p

I must admit it almost put me off ....as I did say never again .......but I just love having chickens. I’ve loved them since I was a little girl. Mum kept them and I had one of my own called Meg . I think that’s deffo true that you learn from your failures👍.

Hello everyone,
I haven’t seen any new avian flu cases reported on the .gov site for a while, could this almost be the end of their lockdown??
I have been on here a little while now, I keep 6 beautiful hens and currently 16 ducks which we inherited with our last house move. That brings me to my current situation....
I have a group of 11 miniature appleyards who are looking for a loving new home. They can go together or as a group of 5 and a group of 6. I have 4 drakes and 7 girls, 2 of the drakes and 3 of the girls are around 2 years old and the other 2 drakes and 4 girls were hatched last spring.
We are having to move from our home in Romsey Hampshire which had a lovely big garden that they have been able to roam about in, and now we are having to move to a smaller home with less space. We will keep our 5 other ducks and 6 chickens but space doesn’t allow for our little Appleyards too.
I am not looking to sell them, just rehome them as I just want them to be well looked after and hope that one or a couple of you nice folks can help or suggest someone who might take them?
We have a couple of months to find a home but I wanted to start looking and they can leave any time from now onwards.I am happy to travel to get them to a good home and will happily donate some feed and straw etc to get them started in their new home.
Many thanks,
Vanessa

Just pasted this in another Avian Flu thread, but just in case you don't see it ...

Copied and pasted from APHA email

GB Governments have announced plans to lift poultry housing measures from 23:59 on 31 March. The Avian Influenza Prevention Zone mandatory biosecurity measures remain in place for all birds. If you intend to allow your birds outside after 31 March you must take action now to prepare the outside areas, please check the information available at: GOV.UK: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/avian-influenza-bird-flu, GOV.SCOT: https://www.gov.scot/news/avian-influenza-housing-measures-set-to-be-lifted-on-31-march/ and GOV.WALES:https://gov.wales/avian-influenza-housing-measures-set-be-lifted-31-march
