Hello all, I have an almost 3 year old coturnix quail and a young one (about a year old).
Yesterday my old bird looked like she was struggling with something, almost as if she was trying to lay an egg. She stopped laying at the age of 2. Today I found this thing in the cage, I have no idea what it is. I opened it up and it looks like meat on the inside, and it’s slimy in the middle. Honestly it looks like an internal organ 😅
The photos are really gross, sorry.
Can someone tell me what it could be?

Given her age and very likely reproductive tract issues, I'm not certain that a vet could help her. :(
Ah, I get it. I’m trying to prepare for losing this lovely bird, she lived waaayyy longer than her first friend. She’s old and she did have some health issues back when she was young, but she hasn’t been sick for about one and a half year now. Anyways I guess it’s time for me to start spending more time with my pet so that saying goodbye won’t be that hard. My previous birds died so suddenly, I’m still not over them. Thank you for your answers.
