Chick this link our for poultry congress info:

http://www.poultrycongress.com/

The show is on the 14th and 15th in the Mallory complex, its a big competative chicken show! Definately worth a 20 minute trip. I am sure you can buy some chickens/eggs from people there. Hope to see you there!

Excellent, thanks for the link. Just woke up dh to tell him we're going to the Big E in January. This is my first year with chickens and I have no idea what I'm doing, so to be able to go where people really know what they're talking about and ask questions will be just great. I ask plenty of questions on here and get great answers, but I have a million questions so if I can corner someone in person and just keep asking, I'll get the answers faster. Or get escorted out by security...oh well, it will be great to go and see all the different breeds anyway. Thanks again for that link, I have already marked my calendar.

The poulty congress at the Big E is this Saturday and Sunday, I'll definitely be going. Looks to be a place where I can learn a lot and maybe meet some other BYC'ers. Hope to see some of you there. There's a link to the info page that someone else provided a couple previous to this, check it out.

I everyone, I live in Millers Falls way out near wendell state forest. This is my first year with chickens (and 2 turkeys). It is our first winter. Kind of scared. Nice to finally find some locals

Welcome!! I understand being nervous, even though chickens have lasted from the dawn of time through harsh winter.... I still worry!!!

Hello from Ludlow,MA... 2nd winter here, last year even with all the snow and the bitter cold, 14 out of 14 easily survived unharmed and happy to see spring..
Great show today, going to go back Sunday am to look for stuff I may have missed..

Glad to hear your chickens did well! I will be going back to the show as well, it was awesome!

We also went to the show, and I'm so glad I didn't bring much money or I would have come home with another whole flock. The birds were beautiful and I kept trying to convince my husband that we need a new rooster, but he didnt fall for it. I did manage to get some hatching eggs, just barnyard mix because that's what I have now and don't really feel the need for purebreds, but it will still be fun to see what I get out of them. Met some nice people and picked up the list of exhibitors to see who has what in my area, that will be a help too. Excellent show and I never would have known it was there except for someone posting it on here. Thanks very much for keeping me informed, this site is terrific.

Hi All, I really wish I had found this post a little earlier. I am over in Southampton. mamadukes5 I grew up in Easthampton :) This is my first year with chickens as well and I'm actually looking to add some more like olive egger, marans and not sure what else yet. Right now I have 2 partridge rocks, a black australorp and two EE's (one is a Roo). Not to mention a pair of geese and ducks lol. I sort of jumped in whole hog.

It is really nice to find people on the western side of the state that are raising chicks. :)
