Our coop has been empty for 9 months and was treated when we lost our chickens last year. We had mites so we know what they look like (these are not what our chickens last had last year). We are making some improvements to the coop and have noticed these extremely tiny black and translucent bugs in the wood. If you touch them they turn to powder (ie they are really delicate). It’s the middle of the day and they’re very active and out in the sun. What are they? Can they hurt our chicks? We’re getting ready to move our 5-week old chicks to the coop.
