What is a group of quail called?

I was wondering, is a group of quail called a flock or a covey (or something else)? I have heard both words used.

Covey is fine for quail, but for some quail, seriously wondering why they can't borrow the crow group: murder.

Technically, both are correct. "Covey" lets quail breeders feel exclusive, the same way guinea fowl breeders can call their bird babies "keets."

Ornithologists (bird scientists) usually just refer to groups of birds as flocks.
