Yes they are black when babies but they silver evenly usually. They don't silver in patches. The head is also usually the last to silver. Like this is a just beginning to silver 3 month old

. See the head has nothing and the hairs are evenly distributed. Unfortunately I don't have in between pictures but this is a nearly fully silvered adult

The black on her nose dissappeared too after a few more months.

Notice they are all even with slightly darker heads. They don't have patches of silver and patches of solid. That's why I said it was odd.
