Hi all! My chicks are now close to 2 weeks old. I got them at the feed store and have no idea what they are. I numbered them if you can tell me what breed they are. Thank you!

2 looks like a Barred Rock pullet. But it could also be a Cuckoo Marans pullet, a Dominique pullet, or a Black Sexlink cockerel.

3 could be a Welsummer, an Easter Egger, a Brown Leghorn, a Cream Legbar pullet (other breeds either gender), or several others that I can't remember just now.

4 could be any white or buff breed. A photo without the red light would help sort out which. White could be Leghorn, Rock, Wyandotte, Cornish Cross, or quite a few others.

I can't decide anything about 1, because I can tell the red light is messing with the color but I can't tell how it's changed.

For all of them, photos with no red light could help. It helps to have at least two photos for each chick: one showing a side view of each chick (including feet) and one showing the comb. The down color and the pattern can help recognize the breed, but the foot color and the comb type are often very important for sorting out breeds that are otherwise similar.

For example, with chick 2: Dominiques have rose combs and yellow feet, Barred Rocks have single combs and yellow feet, Cuckoo Marans have single combs and yellow feet.

So helpful! Thank you! I will get some pics in the daylight tomorrow. 😊

The bins in Atwoods said : Old Fashioned for the charcoal gray ones. A customer standing next to me said probably barred rocks. The bin with the brown ones and yellow ones said specialty breed. So yeah, I’m clueless. Lol

Here’s my first mystery. Is he a barred rock?

Here’s my first mystery. Is he a barred rock?
Probably yes:

yellow feet
single comb
black down with yellow head spot
black feathers with white barring

Male vs. female Barred Rocks have different amounts of white barring (males more white, females less white), with some overlap in the middle of the range. So it's possible to guess at gender earlier for them, based on color, than for other breeds that don't have gender-specific coloring. But of course it's still easy to be wrong. In these photos, I think this chick looks male (that wide white stripe in the wing.) I'd thought the one in the very first photo (first post) looked female (not much white). But if it's the same chick both times, then I have to be wrong on one of those guesses!

Great! Thank you! It’s not the same 1. I have 7 of this breed. I’m going to get more pics throughout the day. I really appreciate your help 😊
