I am currently working on separating my flock into breeding pens.
I have 9 silkies at the moment and I was wondering what colour future chicks might come put as. And the genetics behind them.

I have;
Roosters
Splash
Dark buff
Dark buff through white (possible roo)
(Not sure which 2 roosters to keep)

Hens
Splash
2 light buff through white
Blue looks black
Grey pearl
Partridge

I have fertile silkie eggs comming soon

I was wondering which 2 roosters would be better to keep.
And what colours they would through

Both splash silkie are siblings there other siblings consistent of pure black, grey and brown silkies. The mother of both splash silkirs was a splash her self and the father of them looks similar to the picture below

Pictures of all possible parent birds?

I don't have pictures unfortunately I bought all the silkies but the Splash's but I can explain.

The Partridge and the grey pearl are from the same dad as the Splash but a Partridge mother.
The light buffs, dark buffs and the blue looks black came from a lady in grenfell, I think she has a buff rooster white hen/s and Partridge hen/s
From a breeder who has all his silkie colours in separate pens

If that helps at all

I'm new to silkies and iv only ever hatched silkie crosses, the past few times iv asked about colours or genetics I haven't gotten many comments or much help. I hope with this new thread I might have some better luck. Lol

Photos of the chickens would help a great deal.

Your Silkies are not from pure-for-color breeding lines, so they carry a variety of genes.
Looking at actual photos can help people more easily identify what color genes they do have, or are likely to have.

For example, you are calling some "splash." Some people use that to say how many copies of the blue gene a chicken has. Some people use that to describe a chicken that has the genes to be black all over, and then has two copies of the blue gene, causing the whole bird to be splash colored. And some people say "splash" to mean any chicken with certain arrangements of black and white, no matter what gene is causing it-- and there are at least three other genes or sets of genes that can cause similar effects in a Silkie, but each behaves differently in breeding. Photos can help people sort out some of what that is.

Crossing some colors of chickens gives quite predictable results, crossing some other colors does not. Depending on what colors your chickens have, it might be hard for anyone to give accurate predictions. So that's one other reason you might not get useful answers.

Of course, thank you so much
