My 18 week easter egger started laying on July 3rd. She seems to lay 2 days in a row then skips a day. Her first 2 eggs were small but normal since shes a new layer. Her 3rd egg was huge (I'll post a picture) cracked it open and it was a double yolk. Her 4th egg was soft shelled and took a while to come out. Since then shes been laying the huge eggs like pictured. All double yoked. Is this normal? Am I doing something wrong? I'm feeding her all flock with oyster shells on the side. About once a week I'll throw them some scratch. They also free range so many, many bugs. I just worry that one day the egg is just going to be to big.

I have similar with my girls, I've had some small like a Robin's egg and I've had some that leave me looking for Raptors in my back yard. While a nice butt rub for the lady might be in order, I cant say I would be worried about the size.

That's amazing, most EE start laying 24 to 29 weeks.
she was the first to lay when I have 5 that ate a production breed. They still havent given me anything :rant
Amazing, wait did I say that already?
What type of chickens are you're slackers?
She is a bigger bird so that may account for it also. Shes round as a butterball 😂
She is pretty. GC

I have 1 more easter egger who I'm not expecting to lay until later and 5 production blues. From my research they should be laying anywhere between 16 and 20 weeks. So far nothing. This is the one I though would lay first. Her comb and wattles are bright red and huge but she doesnt pay any attention to the neating boxes 🤦‍♀️
