Purple Martins are the best fling bug eaters around, especially mosquitos! At the lake where I lived there were hundreds of them (PM's) and we had very little trouble with the bugs most of the time. Very pretty as well.

Am putting a bug zapper to hang in tree outside of coop so girls can have a feast of june bugs, japanese beetles, etc all summer long every morning.
We were inundated with them last year! I tried everything, dried the run, ran fans to keep them blown away, put up extra large flypaper strips, pennies in bags of water...everything! They swarmed my chickens and fortunately I didn't lose any, but they tortured them for sure. Eventually they went away. I was just hoping to get a leg up on them this year.
We call them black flies around here. They ARE awful and really ruin an outdoor outing, not to mention a great fishing trip up North! They're relentless!
