Our 8 Isa Brown chicks are growing so fast. Full of feathers and rowdy as can be. We moved them from the box to the coop, closing it off to the big chicks. Had to build an extra nesting box for them as they are blocked from the coop. Been pretty warm so we leave the big coop door open with a plastic net covering the opening to keep them in. Been going well, except the big girls complaining about the new nesting box, LOL.

Well today we took down the netting keeping them in and opened the door to the coop to see what would happen. Everybody behaved themselves. Of course there is plenty of food to go around which keeps them all busy. PLus extra mealworms for the big girls to keep them happy. Looks like 3 - 4 chicks got adventurous and explored outside the coop and run. We also have it all fenced in to keep it under control. No squabbles from the big girls so all is well. Still have 4 of the chicks under the coop and I don't think they know what to do. I'm probably going to have to convince them to go into the coop for the evening as it's getting dark.

So it was successful so far. Just keep enough food out and they should be OK.
