I love how you explain your observations; they are considered and thoughtful. You care about your chickens and want to know more about them so that you can provide them with quality care and allow them to live their best chicken life. Understanding the different pecks so that you don’t ‘cull due to aggression’ means that the cockerel/rooster gets to live doing what they do best. You are a fountain of knowledge, thank you for sharing.
Excellent article! The level of health care given to this little lady is exceptional. I hope she continues to get better and maybe a hormone implant could help extend her life.
We did it :) I procrastinated a little as I was a little unsure how her recovery was going to go, but things a re looking up! I have posted some updates.
Thank you for writing this. I lost my Barred Rock pullet yesterday and I’m gutted. She is the third chicken I have lost in less than two years and my heart is broken. I did all I could for her and it still wasn’t enough.
