No rain here, just coooollld. I’m in Durango, CO. I have my first flock this year. Learning a lot! Just realized that I have a lice infestation and spent yesterday treating all 8 birds and the coop. Chickens are not for the lazy or faint of heart.

So nice to meet you! So sorry to hear about your lice. Hopefully they are gone. We are sure almost in the same boat, with 8 girls. My other 4 are Welsummers, which I don't think are quite ready to lay yet. Their combs and wattles are slowly turning that bright red, which is a sign they are almost there.

Yeah, the lice is a pain! I'm working on it. Now I have a bird with sour or impacted crop. Man I have a lot to learn. :( Welsummers look beautiful!

So, one of my girls are missing this morning. I am sad, it is now dusk, and no sign of her. No feathers left anywhere either. It is a mystery. Wondering if owls hunt after daylight?
