The following information is all coming from Cackle Hatchery.
The White Broad Breasted Turkey is the most common of commercial broad breasted strains of eating Turkeys on the market today. The White Broad Breasted Turkey is by far the largest of the breeds and generally are not able to reproduce very well. The parent stock is artificially inseminated in order to ensure excellent hatchability. They also have a shorter lifespan than the heritage breeds as they are primarily bred for meat production. They have the best feed to meat conversion ratio. Most Americans at Thanksgiving time are sitting down to a table with a White Broad Breasted Turkey.
