Does anyone know why my hen, who has been broody for the first time, has suddenly abandoned her nest of eggs? They were approximately a week or less from hatching. She's been diligent about setting, except for to get a bite to eat & to get a drink, however, last night when I went out to lock...
My chickens have a fenced yard that they dwell in freely every day, but I also let them free range outside of that yard (which is quite large) when I am home & running in & out... mainly so that I can run them back in if they get outside of my property. I agree with the others, that's just a...
She was actually kind of a cream & brown. Who would have thought that she'd turn out to be this color... LOL. I'll see if I can find a picture of her from when I first got her.
Sounds like you ran into the same thing that I did. I bought what was supposed to have been Sapphire Gems, & this is what I got. I love them regardless, I'm just saying that I didn't get what they were advertising.
Thank you!! Well, I got her at Tractor Supply, as a baby chicks (pullet). Of course they had a 6 minimum, & they supposedly had the Rhode Island Reds, the Silver Wyandottes, & the Sapphire Gems together... so I bought 2 of each. The Rhode Island Reds & Wyandottes are what they were supposed to...
Can someone tell me what breed this is? I know what I was supposed to have gotten when I purchased it & another one just like her, but from what I Google they don't look anything like what they're supposed to be.
Thank you!! I'm not sure exactly how old they are, but I know where they originally came from, so I'm guessing that they are in the neighborhood of 2 years old.
Thank you so much! I was concerned that they might not be getting the proper nutrition. I don't know a thing about turkeys, but I think 2 of them are Royal Palms, & the other a Slate (Blue Slate?).
I'm sure that you've resolved the issue by now, but just sharing this info that was given to me by a neighbor, for future reference. She was having an issue with one being picked on, & she was told to put a little Vick's Vapor Rub on the area where they are being pecked. In her instance it was...
I just added turkeys to my flock. Can someone advise me on what feed to get for them? My chickens eat Flock Raiser, by the way, but I don't know if that is recommended for turkeys. They are grown, by the way. Thanks in advance!!
I just got my turkeys 2 days ago, & have been feeding them Flock Raiser also, because that's what my chickens eat. I'm also trying to find out what kind of feed to buy for them, or if the Flock Raiser is sufficient.
Well, I decided to let the babies out late yesterday afternoon. No problems with the cats!! Yippee! I did have one rooster though, that tried to get ahold of one of them (you know what I mean). Is that common? I've been making sure that he's not around them now. Boy, they are lovin' it...
