I am drowning in frizzle chicks (black, white, brown), satin chicks, silkies - one week old. My girl hid eggs and they are everywhere.
I also have a juvenile roo (black fluffy pic) and an adult Mottled Houdan Rooster. He's very friendly.
I have way too many chickens, plz send help...
Hi there, I'm a newbie at raising ducks. I have 6 ducklings. 4 of which are 8 weeks old, and have been living outside for about a week now. The others are *almost* 5 weeks old, and are going crazy inside because they miss the others. Is it safe to move them outside with the others? They're still...
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
We have quail! We brought home 351 quail today. One or two casualties in the transport but that's farming. Most are happy and healthy. SIL is a vet and helped us patch up one hen and she's doing well now.
(2) How many chickens do...

Hello I'm an adoptions based Serama breeder in Tonopah Arizona, 85354. I adopt out 2+week old chicks, locally only. I didn't see anything against the rules of posting a website/blog to visit, so I'm hoping that's allowed (please let me know if it isn't). It's way harder to keep the list of...
I have a rooster and must move. Most of the places I've looked at are within these zones. I am unsure how to find out if we can have a rooster within these zones. Anyone have any hints? Also seeking pro tips for finding homes in the appropriate zones. I've visited breeders in these cities...
Hello, I’ve been looking at moving to Arizona after I leave college and I was wanting to start a ranch out there with chickens and ratites. I was wondering, what would be a good way to manage overheating in the desert? I’ve heard dugout and adobe buildings are an option, is this true? I just...
Hello, I'm an adoption based breeder located in Tonopah Arizona, 85354. This means you actually get to pick your new companion/flock member. I only adopt out 2+ week old Seramas. This is for their health and safety. They are rather delicate their first couple weeks of life so I spend most of my...
Glad to finally join after reading posts for the last two years!
In addition to being a flock father I own and operate Justice Brothers Ranch, a citrus and cattle operation that's been up and running since 1928.
We've done a lot of things over the last 90+ years, but we've most recently wound...
I have a flock of four chickens... one of each: buff orpington, blue rock, plymouth rock, and silver laced wyandotte.
I raised a flock of 15 many years ago and wanted to get back into it as a hobby and for eggs. This will be my first attempt at caring for chickens in the heat of Arizona...
This is my second time raising chickens. Last time was about 6 years ago. I recently got 5 New Hampshire reds.
The first time I raised chickens it was full summer time here in Mesa, AZ. 100+ degrees during the day. I raised them all outside. They did great!
This time I have them inside because...
I have a run that is over 460 square feet. I live in the city, in Arizona, so it's pretty hot here and the amount of space isn't terrific. But my run had a pretty significant amount of grass and it's 100 percent gone. I have 12 hens, and at the minimum 4 square feet per hen, that's quite...
I am relatively new to chickens, only owning my own flock for about six months. I have taken care of them longer but I am excited to have my own!
My flock of nine consists of three silkies, two Buff Orphingtons, two Ameraucaunas, one Barred Rock, and one Blue Lace Wyandotte (my favorite).
I...
Sadly, our girl, Margo, is in need of a new home (she's in Phoenix, AZ). She just turned three years old, and she's a great layer when not molting - She leaves us the most beautiful pale blue eggs. She's just about finishing her current molt - You can still see some of the pin feathers that...
Hello. New to BackYard Chickens! I live in Tucson, AZ, and I am new to raising chickens. I have 4 young chickens (Naked Neck, Rhode Island Red, Silver Laced Wyandotte and an Easter Egger) that I got as chicks in Sept 2019. I love that each of my chickens has a distinct personality. I did not...
We had gotten five baby chicks from the local feed store and now that they’re two months old, we’ve found that two of them are roosters and were misgendered. One is a Japanese Bantam and the other is a D’uccle Bantam. They’ve been together since week one and we would prefer it if they were...
CAL Ranch Does Not Support Backyard Chicken Farmers - Please Boycott Them
I know you poultry enthusiasts are busy this time of year, so I'll try to make this as brief as possible, but I think the story needs to be heard. It is important because we have so little freedom left in this country...
