Hi all,
This post is a goodbye to my chickens, and consequently a goodbye to this community (for now.)
I recently decided to give all my chickens (3 roosters) away for a few reasons. For one, I live in an urban area, and although I've cleared it with neighbors around me, I always felt bad about having 3 roosters crowing at various times during the day. For context, I got them as chicks from a family friend. They probably bought them free-run, as we were hoping for hens, but all of them turned out to be roosters. And to add on to that, this wasn't even the first 3 chickens I raised. I had 3 prior and they also turned out to be roosters, so you can imagine the shock and slight disappointment of all 6 being roosters. But continuing on, they had just started fighting recently, as roosters do (they're almost a year old at this point) to the point of bloodshed, and in the position I was in, I couldn't really separate them aside from temporary time-outs in a smaller containment, but that doesn't really help. In their coop, they were fine, but when they come out to free-range a bit, they fight. Luckily one chicken always acts as a mediator, but even then, the other 2 usually don't listen. So because of this, and other reasons like just having added more responsibilities to my life, I gave them away to new homes. Their names are Chester, Olive, and Oliver, and I miss them so, so much already. I attached pics so y'all can see these cuties :') (left to right is Chester, Olive, and Oliver)
But yeah, I haven't been in this community long and have only made a few posts early on, but I just wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude to the community, for not only helping me when I needed it, but also everyone just helping and supporting each other. It's been an absolute pleasure being here, and I hope all of you chicken owners and lovers have wonderful lives with your little babies :') I hope one day to return to this community when I have a place of my own and can comfortably raise chickens (hopefully hens this time), but for now, take care y'all.
