I just did some research and cured ham is not supposed to be canned. You can use fresh ham though.No, I didn’t expect it to crisp (canned bacon is still pliable). I just didn’t want to except it to be suitable for a dinner, but end up with ham salad.
It’s a spiral ham I was given as an Easter gift... 2017. It’s just over four pounds. I was afraid if I didn’t cook it soon, it would get freezer burned.
There were a couple of exceptions for adding ham to split pea soup and another for adding to beans. There a couple of sites in the comments section that list sources for canning ham though
