I'm googling this now & the closest thing I can find is that my walnuts were apparently candied in the store before I bought them.

Funny, I googled it too. I can tell you why people sometimes look orange, but not walnuts.

I guess if they smell and taste ok, I'd use them.

Did a little research and found nothing except if they smell and taste ok, they probably are ok. Bad nuts would have an odor and an altered taste, maybe acidic taste. I hope someone will know, I'm still curious...

Sorry to just jump in here, but my kids are baking today. They're grinding walnuts & noticing some of them have a bit of a slight orange tint to them. Its a brand new bag from Costco. We buy a lot of nuts from there, but never seen this before.

Does anybody know what this is or maybe seen this before. They look fine otherwise & taste fine....

I know this seems weird, but did you take a picture of the walnuts? Just curious...

Has everyone done or doing their Christmas baking? I'm doing sourdough goodies. Making sourdough fruitcake tomorrow. Made other goodies today but the fruitcake takes 2 hours in the oven. Happy Holidays everyone...

I made English Toffee and a caramel yesterday. Today I will make truffles and on Christmas eve, asiago bread and German's Chocolate cake.

Well we all had the same idea, I got the same results you all did.

I offered to bake with the kids yesterday but they wanted to make lemonade instead and bake cookies Christmas day.

Here’s some orange fragments. The recipe calls for them to be pulverized, that’s why they’re so small. I put a normal walnut next to the orange pieces so you can see the color difference.
