By far, the angst caused by being away on a trip is the worst part for me. Hubby almost demands that I go on certain trips, and with good reason (weddings, aging family who won't be around forever).

My "chicken sitter" might not be able to take care of my chickens anymore, due to health issues.

I have a neighbor with chickens, but our management styles are VERY different, and I would never have a moment's peace while we are gone. Another neighbor is that neighbor's mother, so I hesitate to ask. That leaves "the new people" on our road. I might ask her, but she's the farthest away.

I honestly don't have a "worst part" as I like what we do here.

Horse pellet bedding in the coop means we don't clean the floor but once a year and the poop boards once a week with a trowel and giant dust pan. That takes 60 seconds.

The predators are kept away by our two dogs, two cats, and lots of solar motion lights. We don't have mice as we have cats.

We hatch and sell silkie chicks so that sort of offsets the feed.

Especially the roosters. I just want my boys to love me back soooo bad but they're worse than feral cats!

The worst part is when they die.
Second worst - when your favorite chick ends up being male and you have to get rid of it.
