I have a few chicks who are now getting old enough that I'm hoping that some of you who are far more expert than I might be able to tell if they are male or female. I have numbered them 1-4 as there are a couple of pictures of each of them from different angles. Thanks for your help!

How old are they and do you know the breed?

Its hard to tell but based on rounded looking neck and tail feathers, short combs and barely any wattles they appear to be female. #4 looks to be getting some pink color which is why I am curious about the age too, usually comb development on cockerels especially at about 10-12 weeks is pretty obvious, although not in all cases…I have a barred rock female that at 10 weeks had a huge red comb and wattles and ended up being female, she now just has a giant floppy comb (affectionatly named “big flop”) lol

Thanks for your reply. They're about 9 weeks and mostly brahma (dad was brahma and mum half brahma and half unknown)

Brahmas are slow maturing birds, i have 2 roosters, everyone in this page saying they are pullets, until they turned 10 months old and starting crow.

Yes, these are actually the babies of one of our pullets turned cockerel who no-one was sure about until he started crowing too 😆 That's why I thought I might get some expert opinions earlier this time, it's so hard to tell with Brahma!
