New Chics

hello! I am new here. I worked at a chicken hatchery for several years so I do know a lot about the industry. However, I never owned any of my own chickens until now. Last week I hatched out seven baby chicks. Four were Cockrells and had to be sent to a farm. The other three are pullets and I am keeping them. I currently have them in a brooder with a heat plate. I plan on transferring them outdoors to a chicken coop when they are ready.

Welcome. Are you not permitted to have roosters? If yes, I am sorry. Roosters are so important for a flock.

unfortunately, we are not allowed to have roosters in the area where I live. There are several farms around me and I can hear that they have roosters but I guess since they’re considered agriculture it’s OK for them. I may have up to 16 chickens.
