Warren, Isa Brown, Lohmann Brown ?

Does anyone know how to tell the difference between Warren, Isa Brown and Lohmann Brown Chickens.

There isn't much difference. They're all sex link brown layers that are bred to lay tons of eggs. The parent companies are different, you're talking huge conglomerates that make $$$ selling these birds to egg production factories and hatcheries.

It's basically the difference between say Advil and Motrin. Different packaging, underneath they're both ibuprofen.

Warren, Isa Brown, and Lohmann Brown are three of a number of labels under which some hatcheries market their Red Sex Links which are produced by crossing a red gene rooster (RIR, NH, or PR) with a silver gene hen (RIW, Delaware, Light Sussex, SLW, or silver factor WR) to produce offspring that can be sexed by color from hatching (male chicks are whitish, female chicks are reddish), but no matter what label they are marketed under, Red Sex Links are egg laying machines, consistently churning out more than 300 large brown eggs per hen per year.

Warren and Isa Brown are two different names for the same hen. Actually, Jim Warren sale the exploitation rights for Europe to the French company ISA (Institut de sélection animale) in 1959 so ISA is the French name for Warren.

Lohmann is a German company which produce similar chickens but the origins are different.

ISA Brown is Rhode Island x Leghorn
Lohmann Brown is Rhode Island Red x White Rock.

Both produce around 300 eggs during their first year (from 5 to 17 months)
