I have about 14 people coming over for Christmas Eve. Mostly friends with some family. About 1/2 are kids ranging from 7 months to 17 years old.

I have been thinking of buffet style foods that will feed everyone. So far I thought of: egg salad (of course) and chicken finger rolls, sweet and sour meatballs, bacon wrapped water chestnuts, veggie and spinach dip tray, crackers & cheese, chips and dip.

I am also going to make some of my homemade candy (peanut butter balls, nedums, and ritz cracker delights.

My mom is bringing some homemade breads and cookies.

For beverage I will have coffee, eggnog and soda.

Any other easy on the budget items you can think of?

Is it morning or afternoon? We're doing brunch the day after Christmas.

We're serving:
Breakfast Casserole
Ham
Homemade Breads & Rolls
Cheeseball & Cracker Platter
Homemade Apple Pie
Homemade Cookies
Peppermint Bark
Coffee.Cocoa.Eggnog.

Also asked everyone to bring a dish if they could.

We always do a HoneyBaked Ham for Christmas. Yum.
Mashed potatoes and gravy, stove top stuffing for Christmas
Candied Yams.
Cooked carrots and peas.
Dinner rolls w/ real butter.
Ice cream w/ apple pie

Oh, we also do a lemon lime slushie to drink

It's almost the same as Thanksgiving, only we substitute Ham for Turkey and apple pie for pumpkin pie.

This is on Christmas Eve. On Christmas day, me and the kids always have a nice ham dinner.

I really don't want to "cook" a lot as I have to work until 5:00 p.m. and people are going to be showing up around 7:00.

Deviled eggs and those scallions wrapped in cream cheese and ham or turkey.

Oh, and put some sweet gerkins on the veggie tray - kids love those.

eta - and if ya have any time or inclination at all - whip up some stuffed mushrooms, they're fast and good mmmmm
