I became interested in heirloom gardening 3 years ago, and have been trying to find/piece together the exact breeds my deceased grandparents grew. My grandmother continued to grow and keep her heirloom peas (crowder peas) and beans (turkey craw), but unfortunately her children switched to hybrid/gmo seeds once they became available so the only thing i have to go on is her family's descriptions.

She grew a yellow heirloom sweet corn that my father swears was not golden bantam and was not a yellow dent corn. Aside from it not being a dent or bantam, all I know is that it was allegably grown since my great grandfathers generation.

Would anyone have any guesses as to what the breed might be? My family comes from pall mall Tennessee and the Cumberland Plateau in Tn. They have no name for it other than "corn".

Have no idea, but you could look up rareseeds.com and see if you recognize any of their varieties, and if you still can't, perhaps contact the owner of Baker Creek seeds and ask. Good luck!
