    I first suggest a tractor. It was my mistake making my run stationary, it got muddy and gross. If it isn't covered and you get rain and bad weather, your going to want a mobile run, so you can move it frequently to keep it from getting muddy. I am restarting to! Except this time, I am teaching the chickens to survive on a 100% free range/forage diet!

    We've got a tractor. We lost our entire family of chickens 3 years ago when a predator pulled them by their legs under our door. Free-range is something I'm not going to try here after that. We do live in the middle of the woods so lots of large predators.

    Predators are the worst! I have lost flocks to them as well. We are surrounded by forest, have Coyotes, Coons, Cougars etc. I find predator repellant lights very helpful! You can give them a go if you like!
