    Divet hole in leg/mites?

I have been treating my rooster for leg mites by gently washing and covering with Vaseline when I noticed both legs have some yellow gold skin. But one leg definitely has a large divet. Has anyone seen this and know what to do for it? He does seem to be walking fine. Thanks!

How Do I Treat This Big of a Coop for Scaly Leg Mites (With Limited Time)?

I took a break from the forum while I moved my chickens into their coop. Now my chickens look like they have early signs of leg mites. The edges of their scales are peeling and starting to raise slightly. I've got today and tomorrow (I've got school during the week) to clean out my coop and...

    Question About Scaly Leg Treatment

A couple of my hens show signs of scaly leg mites, so tonight I started treating them all with Bag Balm. Will this work? I know the aim is to smother the little buggers, which reside up under the scales on the legs. Vaseline is usually recommended, but I thought Bag Balm seemed more therapeutic...

Pure Planet Poultry Spray for Scaly Leg Mites?

I've never had to deal with scaly leg mites before, but I've recently noticed my chickens' legs look pretty rough. I also bought some BLRW last night and the rooster has it really bad. (He's in quarantine, no where near my other birds, they got it somewhere else) On hand I have Pure Planet...

Bare Earth Enclosure & Mite Treatment

Hi guys, Newbie post here :) Sadly our little flock has got Scaly Leg Mites and while we're sorted with treatments and disinfecting their coop and perches, there seems to be little advice for what to treat their actual enclosure with. Most disinfectants appear to be designed for concrete...

    Leg Mites and Blunt Beaks

I have a flock (gold comets, leg horns, black stars, barred rocks, welsummers, EEs) that's a mix of two year old hens and one year old hens. The gold comets are all the two year old hens I believe and the rest are one year olds. I've noticed that while several of the hens show signs of leg mite...

    Leg Mites?? *Photos attached*

Just got 3 chickens today that I did not know would have leg mites but unfortunately do :( I've dunked all 3 in a bath of baby oil for a couple minutes at a time and I have ivermectin drops on the way. When I get the ivermectin, how should I administer? Orally? On the back of the neck? And when...

How can I know for certain that my chickens have scaly leg mites?

Greetings, So I have 12 hens and 2 roos and recently I noticed 1 of my roo's biting at his feet and legs and chasing himself in a circle, repeatedly! After investigating I think he has scaly leg mites but I'm not for sure. I also inspected the rest of my flock and some of them seem to have the...

    Ivermectin and Leg Mites

I had a very difficult time finding any information on this topic so I wanted to put this out there as I've had some good early results with this- I brought home a year old Salmon Favorelles rooster a few weeks ago as I wanted a rooster in my flock but I didn't want to raise any more chicks at...

    Aspirin and Nutri-Drench together?

I have a Golden Sex-Link hen, three or four years old, who for the past couple days has looked a bit droopy. She's still eating and she keeps up with the rest of the flock, but she can't jump the low barrier into the compost area where they like to scratch. She's also walking with a bit of a...

Getting rid of scaly leg mites in the coop

Today I discovered one of my Black Sex-Link hens has scaly leg mites. It's only her, and no one else seems to have them, but I'll be treating them all just in case. It's fairly recent, as her legs don't look that bad at all compared to some I've seen on here, but I wanna get this treated ASAP! I...

Leg Mites & When to Move into New Coop

Hi, I’ve been scouring the forums, but still unsure. The property we purchased end of summer came with 11 hens and a rooster. The previous owners had a new flock they had hatched and since these were 2ish years olds, they offered them to us. The coop they are in isn’t the greatest. One wall is...

Light Brahma/ pecking or leg mites?

I have an 8mo old light Brahma who has had some bleeding on her feet the last 5-6 days. I noticed a small spot at first and didn’t think much of it. But today there is obviously more and she seems to me favoring the foot slightly. I have included photos. She is eating, drinking, and laying (as...

    Leg mite opinions needed

Hello, When I was inspecting my hens this morning I noticed they had rather dry bumpy legs (with some dark spots under the edges of a couple of the scales) and was wondering if these were early signs of leg mites. I recently got three new hens I currently have in quarantine, and I noticed they...

    HELP! Brahma Rooster Leg Problems

Hello there, So I'm new to chicken raising, and I majorly screwed up. In my mixed flock of 11, I have two Brahmas..a rooster and a hen. Both of them have scaly leg. All the other chickens are fine. It's my fault, I neglected to clean the roost as often as I should have. Here's what's going...

    Puffy feet with raised scales

Hi all ! We recently introduced two new buff orpingtons to our flock. The one who is larger, almost twice as big, has very swollen feet and raised scales. First we thought it was bumble foot, but there is no sign of a cut or infection. She otherwise is very active and still runs for treats, and...
