Breed identification.

Everything I've read has told me that my black babies are blue Swedish ducks (I was hoping for Cayugas) & that my tan babies are Welsh Harlequins. What do you think? I'm so anxious to know what breeds these babies are so I can build an enclosure that is suited to house them!

Ps, I do know that I have a few mallard/Rouen in there! Those are the only ones I'm certain of!

Agree blue Swedish and I’d say the black ones are Cayugas.

Bummer. I was looking in some of the forums here when another one of my posts wasn't getting much interaction & saw the mention of a Welsh. So I looked up Welsh ducklings & they definitely resembled the ones pictured.

Ok, then, Tractor supply usually gets their ducklings from Hoover’s hatchery. If you look at you lighter ducklings you see light, yellow eyeliner. Blue Swedish have that, Welsh Harlequins do not. I think your dark ducklings could be Cayuga, dark Campbell’s, or chocolate Runners. Look at Hoover’s sight and see what you think. If they are Runners I would think you would see a more upward stance.
Btw, my Swedish is one of my very best ducks!

I see swedish and mallard/rouen for sure. And the black ones are probably swedish or cayuga. If any of them stand up tall they might be runners, but I don't see many runners from hoovers as TS except for fawn/white, and none of those are fawn/white runners.

I had a good look last night & I think the dark Campbells are right on the money! But.. we'll know for sure in a few weeks!
