i am worried. grunting chicken

this morning when i went out to the chickens one of my chickens was trying to lay and egg but was sitting there making a horrible grunting noise.

I have never heard them making this noise and now i am a bit worried.

could there be something wrong?

* How long has she been trying to lay?? Has she ever had problems before??

Did she lay the egg? Did she stop grunting afterwards?

I think it is nothing to worry about, as long as she laid the egg and stopped making the noise when she was done. My hens will sometimes make a screeching noise, but once the egg is laid they quit making racket.

She's not going broody is she? They make lots of unearthly sounds then.
