Male to female ratio

I use them for meat, sell them, or give them to a friend.

Usually you should expect a 50% ratio of males and females. Sometimes it can be more, but it's best to get that % in your head.

Always have a plan for Cockerels because that is the best thing you can do instead of stressing about it when they hatch.

Do yourself a favor and do not name your birds before you have determined gender, unless you name them "dumpling" "A la orange" "noodles" "kay-eff-cee" "over-easy" "omelet" or other such constant reminders that many of them will end up on your dinner table, or that of a friend, neighbor or craig's list user's.
It's very rare that someone would take a cockerel in as a pet, so you need to be alright with knowing that someone's going to eat him; it might as well be you and your family.
There is a lot to be said for knowing precisely how your food was handled before they became dinner.
