Wondering what you all would do about a rooster bullying another roo.

These two have always gotten along and have been in the same coop since the younger one was a day old. The older one is now bullying him - not letting him out of the coop into the run, chasing him around. No real fights (yet) but I feel bad that he’s basically ostracizing him. Oddly, they will still peacefully roost next to each other at night.

Is this just a dominance thing that I should let play out? It’s been going on a week or so now.
Pick one …. lol ; (

This is my first time having silkies and I don't know a lot about them but they are adorable and sweet as can be!! When I got these two I was just told they are silkies. Can y'all tell me what kind of silkie they are? I had no Idea there were different types. Thanks

They are bearded. Not a named color. Depending on how old, that one on the top right might be a boy. If they are adult it's a hen.

So PRETTY!!!!
Could you tell me if partridge is a recessive gene?

No. It's almost default chicken color. Wild type partridge just doesn't have the proper lacing. Other genes can modify it. That's how you get wheaten. Genes can also cover and change it.

Actual white silkies are recessive white and normally partridge underneath. Black silkies are extended black over the basic partridge gene. Black actually works really well to improve partridge if you need to cross in to improve comb color or body color. Only takes a couple generations to get back to partridge.

Original silkie color is the recessive white. Most breeds use dominant white and that's also the color used to make paints. Recessive white does not have leakage but takes two copies to show.

Thank you! I wanted to make sure before breeding my partridge Cochin to my splash Cochin
