Urgent! Possibly of what's wrong with our 5 week old chicks? Graphic pic poop

We've been using left over paper towel from when I worked at a hospital as custodian and always had extras lol

Kids have been helping play "first day of school" and dunking beaks in water. We've got a couple that, while moving more than yesterday, still don't want to drink on their own.

It also didn't help that we forgot to turn on our heat on the house so it was an ambient temp of 60f till about noon lol yes, I know they are fully feathered but they think and feel like they are cold, and once we got the house back up they started moving more on their own.

Live and learn, yes, I just wish I would have known before we lost one. She just looked hunkered down and cold bc the wind was freezing and the temp had dropped over twenty degrees in one day. One day at a time.

Well, damnit, lost another. She just crashed and there was nothing we could have done. She was my youngest's favorite too. She was feisty and fun and colorful too. The first one to have hatched from our brood.

Day two and a half(since we got the corid halfway through Sunday)

And I feel we may loose another one soon unless I can get her to drink on her own. She's constantly cheeping, when I move her to the water she just walks around it. We are down to 7, and two seem worse off than the others.

Roughly every hour we make sure they move to the water and drink.

It'll be what it'll be.

Make sure to give the extra drench boost of the undiluted Corid 0.1 ml per pound of weight. Sorry that you lost another. You might want to get Toltrazuril (Endocox) or the Sulfa antibiotic in case this strain is resistant to Corid/amprollium. Your vet might be helpful to get one right away. Have been giving undiluted since we got it. Have gotten the one to eat(wet with corid water mash) and drink since I posted. I've been checking on them and talking to them every time I'm in the kitchen. She's even moving better.

She's the yellow/white one, Dreamsicle.

If you should have another loss, I would send the body in to your state vet for a necropsy. Sometimes a chick will get enteritis after coccidiosis, and an antibiotic may be needed. If a necropsy is not possible, sometimes a home necropsy may show signs of coccidiosis. Here is a link with pictures:

We have 29 outside and have never had this issue. Which sucks. Live and learn.

It is hard to get antibiotics without a vet most of the time. Amoxicillin is one that is used to treat enteritis. I would try to get a diagnosis though. Let us know how how they get along.

Cleaned out, I was just adding paper towel. They are all eating and moving. And I've noticed less poops. (Eta or less funky poos)

Babies started acting like chickens yesterday evening - scratching, noisey, moving! Yay! Even this morning they are more active and doing what chickens do lol
