I use small crushed rock. We got it for laying pavers but never used it .... The bags started breaking down in the sun so I decided to use them between my beds. I have weeds these days but I could easily fix that, just haven't because some of it is chamomile, dill, and cilantro. So what does everyone use as mulch on the garden paths?
I have a bunch of volunteer tomatoes, I've pulled a few, but I've let a bunch keep growing. I'm sure I'll regret it later but for now it's adding to my tomato diversity.I found a little volunteer tomato in the garden yesterday and decided to leave it and see if it catches up with the foot-tall tomato plants I put in the ground a few days ago.
If it performs as well as the plants I spent time, money and effort starting indoors, I will try planting some of my store-bought tomato seeds in the ground this fall and see how they do next year when direct seeded.
Electric poultry netting around the garden?I need to protect my garden from my puppies. I am thinking to put net for climbing veggies and plant tomatoes next to it. as my dogs are crazy.
I've decided to do both direct seeding and starting seeds indoors in solo cups.I’ve had very good luck with direct seeding okra @Smokerbill.
Interesting. Were those onions planted as seeds, sets or plants? Did they bolt last year? The overwintered in the ground onions are nicer and larger than any onions I've EVER planted in the spring. Hmmmm. I might have to repeat this 'accident'.
